The AquaSonic Vibe Series toothbrush has the American Dental Association’s Seal of Acceptance.1 It’s an affordable but intelligent electric toothbrush.

This electric toothbrush features a slim, ergonomic handle with chrome accents. It includes eight DuPont brush heads that easily slip on and off the balanced handle.

It can be an excellent toothbrush for traveling thanks to its other features, which include:

  • A built-in timer
  • 4-week battery life
  • Ultra-fast wireless charging

The Vibe Series features 40,000 vibrations per minute and four brush modes:

  • Clean
  • Soft
  • Whiten
  • Massage

AquaSonic claims the Vibe Series toothbrush improves gum health and whitens teeth in 2 weeks. It also reduces plaque 10 times better than a manual toothbrush, reducing and preventing gingivitis.2

Is the Aquasonic Vibe Series Toothbrush Right for You?

The AquaSonic Vibe Series toothbrush provides an affordable way to upgrade from manual toothbrushing at less than $100. Its long battery life and convenient travel case also make it the perfect travel companion.

AquaSonic’s Vibe Series toothbrush is perfect for beginners looking to experience the benefits of an electric toothbrush. It lacks the sophistication of more expensive electric toothbrushes but has the basics that sufficiently support a solid oral hygiene routine.

It’s the perfect introduction to the electric toothbrush market, providing two years of solid cleaning at an affordable price. At less than $100, it’s also easier to upgrade if you want to try a more expensive electric toothbrush with more features down the line.

Brushing Modes

The AquaSonic Vibe Series toothbrush had four brushing modes:

  • Clean — This brushing mode feels like the standard mode on most electric toothbrushes. The pulsations don’t feel harsh or jarring unless I bump the back of the toothbrush head against my teeth.
  • Soft — The pulsations feel less intense in this mode, so brushing the more sensitive areas in my mouth was easier. However, my teeth still feel just as clean after brushing as they do in the clean mode.
  • Whiten In this mode, the sound of the toothbrush changes to a higher pitch. It feels like the toothbrush head pulses less than it does in the clean mode and exerts less pressure on the surface of my teeth.
  • Massage This mode uses longer and lower-frequency pulsations to stimulate the gums. Rather than pulse in a continuous motion, the pulsations seem to make the brush head bounce up and down on the gums.

Turning the Vibe Series toothbrush on automatically reverts to your last brush mode, making it easy to set to your liking without rechecking it.

You can also switch between modes by pushing the button below the power button. Sometimes, it can be easy to accidentally switch modes while brushing your teeth.

Soft Mode for Sensitive Teeth

I liked the “soft” mode because it didn’t feel as harsh as the “clean” mode, but it still left my teeth feeling clean. My top and bottom front teeth are sensitive to temperature and pressure, and I felt no discomfort using the “soft” mode.

When paired with light brushing pressure, I think the soft mode can work for sensitive teeth. When I used the massage mode on my gums, I noticed no discomfort afterward.

Smart Vibration Timer Function

The AquaSonic Vibe Series toothbrush has a built-in timer. After 30 seconds of use, the AquaSonic Vibe toothbrush pauses for 3 seconds, signaling you to move to the next quadrant of your mouth.

This 2-minute timer is broken down into 30-second intervals. However, the clock resets if you choose another mode. Once the 2-minute timer is up, the Vibe toothbrush shuts off.

DuPont Brush Heads and Travel Case

The small DuPont brush heads and equally slim stalk are easy to install and remove with medium pressure. AquaSonic doesn’t sell replacement brush heads, but you can find and purchase affordable replacements on Amazon.

Here are things to note about the brush heads:

  • The brush head sits a few millimeters above the toothbrush base
  • Liquid can gather in the space between the toothbrush base and brush head, but cleaning is simple
  • Brush head’s size allows easy access behind my back molars
  • No tongue cleaner or scraper built into the back of the brush heads

Two DuPont brush heads fit snugly into the travel case. The toothbrush base sits closer to the travel case’s hinge to balance the weight.

Opening and closing the travel case requires minimal pressure. AquaSonic also included a vent in the case’s bottom for airflow.

Ultra-Fast Wireless Charging

The lithium-ion battery charges wirelessly with a standard plug base. Simply center the toothbrush on the small raised circle on the charger and plug it in. The battery light will glow red if it’s below 20% of its charge or green once fully charged.

Instead of using up the 4-week battery life, I found it more practical to keep the toothbrush plugged in, charging for short periods between every use.

Within those hours-long gaps between brushing twice daily, the ultra-fast charging was enough to accommodate two sessions of 2-minute toothbrushing.

Unless you’re traveling and need weeks of charge at a time, I find it more practical to supplement the battery charge as I used the AquaSonic Vibe Series toothbrush at home.

How Long Did the Battery Life Last for Me?

The Vibe Series toothbrush has a 4-week battery life. AquaSonic states that you should charge the battery 24 hours before first use or if you haven’t used the toothbrush in 3 months.

I chose not to follow AquaSonic’s instructions to see how long the charge from the factory lasted. Without the initial 24-hour charge, I could turn the toothbrush on and use it for a week before the battery light indicated the need to charge.

Does the Aquasonic Toothbrush Really Whiten Teeth?

In my experience with the AquaSonic Vibe Series toothbrush, I noticed my teeth were more uniform in color. The whitening mode even sounded like it had faster pulsations than the other modes, similar to dentists’ and hygienists’ tools during routine cleanings.

However, I wouldn’t purchase the AquaSonic Vibe Series toothbrush just to whiten my teeth. While my teeth seemed more uniform in color, I wouldn’t claim that the toothbrush whitens my teeth like whitening toothpaste, an at-home whitening kit, or a professional whitening treatment does.
