ALIGNERCO: At-Home Budget Option

At-home aligners are a discreet, effective, convenient, and affordable way to straighten your teeth from the comfort of your home. The trays are nearly invisible and slowly straighten your teeth in small increments. They can be removed anytime for eating, cleaning, and brushing your teeth.

On average, at-home aligners cost between $1,100 and $2,300. SmileDirectClub is the most expensive, while ALIGNERCO is one of the most affordable at-home aligners on the market.

Compared to competitors, ALIGNERCO is between $750 and $1,200 cheaper.

If you need affordable at-home aligners, take the ALIGNERCO assessment quiz to see if you qualify for their treatment.

How Does ALIGNERCO Work (Step-By-Step)?

The ALIGNERCO treatment process is simple and consists of the following steps:

1. Teeth Impressions

To begin the teeth straightening process, the first step is to order an impression kit online. These kits are just $39.99. After receiving the kit, you'll take a dental impression at home and send them back to ALIGNERCO.3

One of our writers at NewMouth ordered a starter kit through ALIGNERCO and took the impressions at home. She found that the impressions were easy to take.

The impression process is relatively simple and takes about one hour. It consists of the following steps:

  1. Open the impression kit box and remove items.
  2. Mix one pack of light putty and one pack of dark putty.
  3. Roll the putty and place it into the impression tray.
  4. Place the tray in your mouth. Bite down for 3 1/2 minutes (and apply constant pressure)
  5. Repeat these steps until all of the impressions are complete.

2. Treatment Process

After ALIGNERCO receives your impressions, a licensed dentist or orthodontist will review them in detail. If you aren’t a candidate for treatment, you’ll receive a refund on the starter kit.

If you are a candidate for treatment, your dentist will begin designing your treatment plan, which can take a few weeks to finalize. You’ll have to approve the plan before starting treatment and won’t be charged until then.

3. Remote Monitoring

Once approved, ALIGNERCO will send the aligner trays straight to your door. You will switch out the aligners every few weeks until the treatment process is complete (typically between 8 and 12 months).2

Throughout treatment, ALIGNERCO requires you to send progress photos to track tooth movement every few weeks. If you run into any issues, you can quickly reach out to a team member via email, phone, or chatbot.

4. After Treatment

To maintain your newly straight smile, ALIGNERCO will provide you with a custom-made retainer. You’ll wear this device every night while you’re sleeping to keep your teeth straight for years to come.3 The retainer is included in the treatment cost.

Should I Get ALIGNERCO Aligners?

Like other at-home aligners, ALIGNERCO best suits people with mild to moderate teeth misalignment. This includes:

  • Crowded teeth — some teeth are overlapping or crooked
  • Gapped teeth — small gaps between one or multiple teeth
  • Other minor to moderate bite problems

At-home aligners like ALIGNERCO cannot treat severe cases of misalignment. You’ll need braces or Invisalign if you have severely crooked teeth.

ALIGNERCO does not provide in-office scans or in-depth monitoring during treatment, making it slightly riskier than other at-home aligner brands and in-office treatments. For a complete and more personalized service, we recommend Byte.

Is ALIGNERCO Safe & Effective?

Safety is the top priority at ALIGNERCO. While they can’t guarantee that each patient will use the clear aligners correctly, they take all of the necessary precautions and provide detailed instructions to ensure safety and ease of use. They also:

  • Only work with licensed dentists and orthodontists, who review and design your treatment plan.
  • Are partnered with reputable dental supply manufacturers to create comfortable, BPA-free plastic aligners that form perfectly to your teeth.
  • Based on reviews, ALIGNERCO also has responsive customer service that is available whenever you have a question. You can reach them via email or phone or by messaging the chatbot on their website to speak to a representative.

Remember: while ALIGNERCO is more affordable, they are also a newer company with fewer reviews than brands like Byte and Candid.

What Does Science Say?

There are mixed reviews as to whether at-home aligners are safe. Many dentists and orthodontists always recommend in-office treatment (like Invisalign or braces) over at-home aligners. This is because these treatments can be monitored closely and it is easier to make adjustments.

However, at-home aligner treatment is generally considered safe and effective if you carefully follow instructions throughout treatment.

According to one study, 87.5% of respondents were satisfied with their at-home aligner treatment, while 6.6% had to visit their dentist after treatment due to adverse effects.1

Since at-home aligner treatment is still relatively new, more research is still being done on the risks and benefits of treatment.1 But most patients are satisfied with the results and prefer these aligners over traditional treatment due to cost and convenience.1

While at-home aligner treatment comes with risks, current research shows that they are generally low for mild and moderate malocclusions. The risks of in-office treatment are even lower.

“Rather than warning patients wholesale against at-home aligners, it might be more productive for dentists to have frank discussions with them about the risks and benefits.”

Getting Started With ALIGNERCO

ALIGNERCO has two aligner options:

SmileAdvantage Aligners

Alignerco clear aligners

ALIGNERCO’s most popular treatment is the SmileAdvantage Clear Aligner. This aligner is worn for 22+ hours daily and can be removed for cleaning, eating, and brushing. The average treatment duration is between 8 and 12 months.

These aligners cost $945 (full price).

NightAdvantage Aligners

ALIGNERCO also offers NightAdvantage Clear Aligners. They require less daily wear time (8 to 10 hours a day). Treatment takes between 12 and 18 months.

These aligners cost $1,145 (full price).

* Disclaimer: Although night aligners may be convenient, NewMouth does not recommend them over traditional aligners. Learn why here.

ALIGNERCO: SmileAdvantage Aligners vs. NightAdvantage Aligners

We recommend the SmileAdvantage Aligners over the NightAdvantage Aligners.

ALIGNERCO's SmileAdvantage Aligners cost $945. These aligners should be worn for 22+ hours a day.

The NightAdvantage Aligners cost $1,145. These aligners are only worn while you sleep (10+ hours a day).

Although night aligners may be convenient, NewMouth does not recommend them over traditional aligners. Many oral health experts are concerned about their safety and effectiveness.

In fact, there is no scientific proof that night aligners are safe. They may actually do more harm to your teeth than good.9 From a clinical perspective, there are also concerns about what could go wrong if aligners are only worn for a few hours each day (less than 20 to 22 hours).9, 10

Every additional hour that you are not wearing the aligners increases the likelihood of your teeth shifting in an undesired direction.9, 10

In addition, without a longer and more consistent wear schedule, your teeth can be left in a limbo state of inflammation. This means it would take your teeth and gums much longer to heal, if at all.9

Does ALIGNERCO Offer Payment Plans?

ALIGNERCO costs between $945 (regular aligners) and $1,145 (night aligners). You'll also have to pay for the impression kit, which is under $50.

ALIGNERCO offers discounts and payment plans. Deals constantly change, so it’s important to check their website for current sales.

With the payment plan, you’ll pay $79/month a month for the regular aligners or $96/month a month for the night aligners.

You can also pay a $275 downpayment for regular aligners, followed by $175 monthly for 6 months. For night aligners, you'll pay a $345 downpayment and $175 monthly for 11 months.

Can I Use an FSA/HSA?

ALIGNERCO accepts HSA (Health Savings Account) and FSA (Flexible Spending Account).

What About Insurance Coverage?

Your insurance may partially cover ALIGNERCO. You’ll need to ask your provider to determine if you’re covered. If your policy includes orthodontic benefits, you’ll likely receive a reimbursement.

ALIGNERCO vs. Other Aligners

If you're not sure which aligner is best for you, read the comparisons below:

ALIGNERCO vs. byte

ALIGNERCO is one of the most affordable at-home aligners available ($945 to $1,145). Byte aligners cost between $1,999 and $2,399.

ALIGNERCO treatment takes longer than Byte. The average treatment time is between 8 and 18 months vs. 3 to 6 months for byte.

Both byte and ALIGNERCO provide night aligner options. However, Byte’s cost $900 more.

NewMouth doesn't recommend night aligners for safety reasons. Learn why here.

ALIGNERCO vs. Candid

Candid costs more than ALIGNERCO ($3,300 on average). You have to visit a CandidPro location for an in-person scan to begin treatment.

ALIGNERCO treatment typically is faster than Candid. The average treatment time is between 4 and 6 months vs. 4 to 12 months for Candid.

Unlike byte and ALIGNERCO, Candid doesn’t offer a night aligner option for safety reasons.

ALIGNERCO vs. SmileDirectClub

ALIGNERCO night aligners cost about $600 less than SmileDirectClub night aligners. The average treatment time for SmileDirect is between 4 and 6 months, while ALIGNERCO can take up to 12 months.

SmileDirect is an older and more well-known brand of at-home aligners. They offer in-person consultations around the U.S.

ALIGNERCO only offers in-person consultations at their New York Smile Studio. They can also do video consultations upon request.

ALIGNERCO vs. NewSmile

NewSmile costs about the same as ALIGNERCO but is an even newer company.

The experience was great as all things were organized. The customer support explained everything in detail and they listened to my concerns and were very knowledgeable. Thanks for your professionalism and correcting my smile.

Trustpilot Review

Most of the negative reviews pertain to shipping, refunds, and final results not being 100% accurate.

The whole process took longer than I thought it would, but the final product is good for the price. Will follow up with another review after using the aligners for more than just a week.

Trustpilot Review

I requested a refund in November after some life events and still have not received it.
