What is Straight My Teeth?

Straight My Teeth is a UK-based clear aligner company known for its highly affordable treatment and strong customer reviews.

Features of Straight My Teeth include:

  • Average 4.5/5 rating out of 811 reviews on TrustPilot
  • WorryFree Plan for 6 years of additional retainers
  • Financing options with 0% interest

A one-time payment for Straight My Teeth treatment costs £999. This is 60% more affordable than Invisalign and the lowest cost of any at-home clear aligner brand in the United Kingdom. Treatment is also faster at 4 to 6 months compared to Invisalign’s 12 to 18 months.

Here’s what Straight My Teeth treats:

In addition to normal daytime aligners, Straight My Teeth also offers nighttime treatment. These have a longer average treatment time of 6 to 8 months versus 4 to 6 months for the daytime option. There are also concerns regarding how safe nighttime teeth alignment is.

For this reason, NewMouth recommends Straight My Teeth’s daytime aligners only.

For UK citizens with minor teeth alignment problems, Straight My Teeth may be a good option, given its speed and affordability.

How Much Does Straight My Teeth Cost?

A one-time payment for Straight My Teeth aligners costs £999. This is less expensive than other UK at-home aligners and significantly more affordable than braces or Invisalign.

Straight My Teeth also offers a payment plan, SmileFlex Easy. Under this plan, you make a £359 down payment and then pay £45 per month. One advantage to this plan is the 0% APR, meaning you won’t pay more in the long run. A credit card is required, however.

Regardless of how you choose to pay, all purchases of Straight My Teeth treatment include:

  • Impression kit
  • Smile Projection (3D image of what your smile will look like post-treatment)
  • Retainers
  • Free shipping anywhere in the United Kingdom

Note: If the dentist or orthodontist finds you unsuitable for treatment, you’ll receive a refund for the cost of the impression kit or scan. There is no obligation to purchase aligners after the scan.

Does the NHS Cover Straight Teeth Direct?

The NHS (National Health Service) will usually cover orthodontic treatment for children under 18. However, as with other at-home aligners, NHS does not usually cover Straight My Teeth for adults.

Thankfully, Straight My Teeth is relatively affordable.

Straight My Teeth Costs vs. Other At-Home Aligner Brands

Here’s how the cost of Straight My Teeth (£999) compares to other UK aligner brands:

Straight My Teeth vs. SmileDirectClub (SDC)

SmileDirectClub pioneered at-home aligner treatment. It first introduced the idea in 2014.

Despite multiple companies entering the industry since then, SDC still has useful features, such as:

  • More payment plans than competitors, two of which are interest-free
  • Physical locations in multiple Canadian cities, including Toronto and Vancouver
  • Payment plans with no required credit checks

SmileDirectClub treatment costs £1,539 and takes 6 months on average. We recommend it for mild cases of teeth misalignment.

Straight My Teeth vs. PlusDent

PlusDent is a clear aligner company based in the UK. It offers affordable treatment for minor teeth alignment issues.

Highlights of PlusDent include:

  • Hybrid care model — like Invisalign, PlusDent has a variety of physical studios from which dental professionals conduct an initial teeth scan and consultation. They then monitor treatment remotely.
  • GDC-certified —  all PlusDent providers are registered with the General Dental Council, meaning they are qualified dental professionals.
  • Well-reviewed — according to TrustPilot, 79% of users gave PlusDent a score of “good” or “excellent.” Four percent of users said their experience was “average,” and just 10% said it was either “poor” or “bad.”

PlusDent can treat mild cases of teeth misalignment in 3 to 10 months. Treatment costs £1,390 as a one-time payment.

Straight My Teeth vs. Straight Teeth Direct

Straight Teeth Direct is another UK-based clear aligner company that offers the convenience of at-home teeth straightening at an affordable price.

The company has additional attractive offerings, such as:

  • Strong reviews —  consumer reviews consistently praise StraightStreight Teeth Direct for its treatment results, responsive customer service, and lack of hidden fees.
  • More guarantees — Straight Teeth Direct offers more guarantees than other brands. These include free refinements for post-treatment issues and free replacements for lost or broken retainers.
  • Affordable price — treatment is 70% more affordable than Invisalign and braces. It’s also the second-lowest price for UK-based, at-home aligners.

Treatment with Straight Teeth Direct costs £1,350 and takes between 5 and 9 months, depending on the issues involved.

  • Well-reviewed customer service
  • Financing options with 0% interest
  • Can help with some overjets and overbites

  • Customer service available by phone, email, or chat
  • Free shipping within the United Kingdom
  • Two free sets of post-treatment retainers

  • WorryFree Plan for 6 years of additional retainers

Cons of Straight My Teeth

  • No in-office consultation means higher chance for treatment errors
  • Can’t fix as many issues as Invisalign or braces
  • Only one physical location
  • Takes a while for aligners to arrive
  • Not the fastest treatment option (Byte may be faster)
  • Not covered by NHS
  • Works with both orthodontists and dentists, who are somewhat less specialized in teeth straightening

How Does Straight My Teeth Work?

There are two ways to begin treatment with Straight My Teeth:

  • Book a risk-free, 15-minute consultation at a Smile Studio (located at 135 High Street, Staines TW184PD, United Kingdom)
  • Order an impression kit to your home

You can book both the in-person consultation and the impression kit online.

If you choose the in-person consultation, a dental professional will digitally scan your teeth. NewMouth recommends this option when possible to minimize the chance for errors.

Because there’s only one location, this option won’t be convenient for everyone.

If you don’t feel like making the trip, here is the process to begin treatment remotely:

  1. Order an impression kit online. The kit will arrive within 3 to 5 business days.
  2. Once the kit arrives, take impressions of your teeth and send them back.
  3. A British dentist or orthodontist will review your impressions and determine if you’re a suitable candidate for treatment.
  4. If they approve you, they will create a series of aligners for each stage of your treatment plan. They’ll also create a 3D image of what your new smile will look like. This takes about 3 weeks.
  5. Next, you’ll submit payment for treatment. After paying, you’ll receive your aligners within 4 to 5 weeks.

Overall, the whole process takes 5 to 7 weeks.

Once you receive your aligners, you’ll wear them for 22 hours a day, changing them out weekly. You can remove them to eat, drink, brush, and floss your teeth or play an instrument or sport.

You’ll wear each aligner set for 10 days before changing to the next one in the series. Every 2 weeks, you’ll send pictures of your teeth to Straight My Teeth for evaluation.

Total treatment time varies but is usually between 4 and 6 months.

Straight My Teeth vs. Invisalign: What Are the Differences?

There are several important differences between Straight My Teeth and Invisalign:

At-Home vs. In-Office Treatment

Unlike Invisalign, Straight My Teeth is an at-home aligner company. This means there are no mandatory visits to the dentist's office. It also means costs will likely be lower since treatment is entirely remote.

Invisalign treatment involves a mandatory consultation, as well as check-up appointments every 6 weeks. This makes treatment monitoring more in-depth but less convenient.

The added convenience of remote orthodontic treatment is one reason people choose at-home aligners like Straight My Teeth.

Affordability

Treatment with Straight My Teeth costs £999, making it the most affordable of any British at-home aligner.

By contrast, the cost of Invisalign in the UK is between £1,500 and £5,500, depending on your location and your provider’s expertise.

Straight My Teeth is also 60% less expensive than traditional braces.

For minor teeth alignment issues, Straight My Teeth is an affordable alternative to Invisalign.

Fast Treatment Times

Straight My Teeth can fix minor teeth misalignment in 4 to 6 months.

Invisalign treatment can be as fast as 6 months but generally ranges between 12 to 18 months. Sometimes it can take up to 24 months.

Variety of Treatable Issues

Straight My Teeth addresses a more limited set of issues than Invisalign.

Invisalign is best for moderate to severe alignment issues, while at-home options are ideal for minor issues.
