If you’re considering at-home aligners, start with [SmileSet](/orthodontics/treatment/clear-aligners/smileset/). It pairs a dentist-reviewed treatment plan with two virtual consultations, giving you direct opportunities to discuss your care.2,3 Before committing, confirm that remote treatment fits your dental needs and get the full price, refinement terms and retainer costs in writing.

ClearCorrect and CandidPro offer alternatives that begin with a local provider. This guide compares six options by care, cost and follow-up. For an overview, see [how clear-aligner care models differ](/orthodontics/treatment/clear-aligners/).

## Who Are Aligners Best For?

A dental professional should assess your teeth, gums and bite before you choose a treatment plan. The American Association of Orthodontists advises a dental check-up before aligner treatment and says suitability is individual.1

Tell the clinician about existing dental work, previous root problems, jaw symptoms and untreated oral-health concerns. Those details affect the records and care you need. An impression kit, scan or online quiz is not a substitute for that assessment.

Some plans need attachments, elastics or IPR, which removes small amounts of enamel between teeth to create space. Ask who provides those procedures and how follow-up works. Don’t choose remote treatment just because your teeth look only slightly crowded. Read our [at-home aligner safety guide](/orthodontics/treatment/clear-aligners/at-home-aligners-safety/) before committing.

## Compare Top Options

SmileSet, ALIGNERCO, Smileie and NewSmile advertise remote treatment packages. ClearCorrect and CandidPro begin with a provider consultation. Invisalign appears below as a reference, not a seventh alternative.2,6,7,8,11,13,15

Prices below were checked September 20, 2026. They are advertised US treatment prices, not complete cost estimates or confirmed checkout quotes. Your clinician must determine which plan is appropriate.

| Option | Start and Monitoring | Advertised Treatment Price | What to Confirm |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| SmileSet | Remote records and two virtual consultations | $1,295 on product page; FAQ prices differ | Retainers, adjustment allowance, diagnostics and return conditions |
| ClearCorrect | Local provider assessment and follow-up | Provider quote | Records, visits, refinements and retainers |
| CandidPro | Local consultation and remote scans every 7–14 days | Provider quote | Additional visits, refinements and retainers |

If you finance treatment, compare the APR, down payment, number of payments and total repayment. A monthly payment alone doesn’t tell you the cost.

## Our Top Picks for Invisalign Alternatives

SmileSet leads our remote-treatment shortlist because its advertised package includes a dentist-reviewed plan and two virtual consultations.2,3 The right choice still depends on your assessment, treatment needs and follow-up arrangements.

Byte is excluded because its official website says operations have concluded.16

### SmileSet

##### Remote Treatment With Two Virtual Consultations

SmileSet advertises a $1,295 treatment package with an impression kit and dentist-reviewed planning. Its FAQ describes two virtual consultations.2,3 Those appointments give you opportunities to discuss your plan, but ask how additional concerns are handled between consultations.

Its product page and FAQ display different prices. The FAQ lists $1,795 in one answer and $1,495 in another, so confirm your selected package before paying.2,3

#### Why We Like It

- **Included consultations:** Two virtual consultations accompany the dentist-reviewed plan.3
- **Kit included:** The advertised treatment package includes an impression kit and aligners.2
- **Published return terms:** SmileSet describes a 30-day return window from receipt and a process for fit-related exchanges.4

#### What to Confirm

The return policy has conditions, including returning the items within its stated window. The product FAQ says return shipping is your responsibility.2,4 This isn’t a guarantee of clinical results.

The product FAQ and [Protection Plan](https://smileset.com/pages/smile-protection-plan) describe adjustments differently. Ask SmileSet to confirm your allowance and conditions in writing.2,5 The plan ties coverage to registration, prescribed wear, payment status and doctor approval. Post-treatment coverage also requires purchasing retainers every six months.5

The FAQ lists retainers at $149 for one arch or $199 for both, separate from subscription offers.3 A warranty purchase requirement is not a personalized clinical replacement schedule.

Our full [SmileSet review](/orthodontics/treatment/clear-aligners/smileset/) covers the care model and purchasing terms. Former SmileDirectClub customers should also read our [closure guide](/orthodontics/treatment/clear-aligners/smiledirectclub/); don’t assume a new provider honors an old agreement.

### ClearCorrect

##### In-Office Treatment Through a Local Provider

ClearCorrect starts with a provider who examines your oral health and takes dental records, usually with an intraoral scanner.6 Your provider plans treatment and sets the follow-up schedule.

#### Why We Like It

- **Local assessment:** The treatment process begins with a clinician evaluating your oral health and records.6
- **Direct planning discussion:** You can discuss your care needs and expected follow-up with the practice.

#### What to Confirm

Get a written quote covering diagnostics, aligners, visits, refinements and retainers. Package names and laboratory allowances don’t establish what your practice will charge. Ask where you’ll receive any additional hands-on care.

Our [ClearCorrect review](/orthodontics/treatment/clear-aligners/clearcorrect/) explains the system in more detail.

### Candid

##### CandidPro With an In-Person Start

CandidPro treatment begins with a local provider consultation and diagnostic records. The provider works with a US-based orthodontist on planning.7

CandidPro describes remote scans every 7–14 days through its ProMonitoring app. In-person visits are still possible when needed; remote check-ins aren’t a promise of visit-free treatment.7

#### Why We Like It

- **Provider-led start:** A local clinician evaluates your case and discusses the plan.7
- **Defined remote check-ins:** The published process includes scans every 7–14 days.7

#### What to Confirm

Ask the practice for its total quote, refinement policy and retention plan. Find out which concerns require an office visit and who reviews your scans.

Our [Candid review](/orthodontics/treatment/clear-aligners/candid/) covers the current CandidPro model.

### ALIGNERCO

##### Lower Advertised Treatment Price

ALIGNERCO advertises all-day SmileAdvantage treatment for $725 with free retainers and whitening.8 Its published process offers an impression kit or a partner scan, with remote tracking.9

#### Why We Like It

- **Lower upfront price:** The advertised all-day package costs $725.8
- **Included extras:** The product page lists initial retainers and whitening.8

#### What to Confirm

Approved refinements cost $250 under the current refund policy. Requests must be made within two to three weeks after treatment ends.10 Check any scan fees, replacement-retainer costs and cancellation deductions before buying.

Different policy passages describe declining a treatment preview differently. Ask for written clarification rather than relying on the homepage’s refund language alone. Manufactured aligners cannot be returned under the published policy.10

Our [ALIGNERCO review](/orthodontics/treatment/clear-aligners/alignerco/) explains the treatment and refinement terms.

### Smileie

##### Single-Arch and Dual-Arch Plan Choices

Smileie’s daytime both-arch impression-kit option is advertised at $699. Its single-arch daytime option is $549.11 These are different treatments; a clinician should assess both arches and your bite before recommending one-arch treatment.

Smileie Pro is advertised at $1,499 and adds an in-person pathway. Availability depends on location.11

#### Why We Like It

- **Different starting options:** Choose between an impression-kit pathway and selected in-person services after confirming suitability.11
- **Plan-specific inclusions:** The dual-arch card lists two retainer sets; the single-arch card lists one.11

#### What to Confirm

Pro advertises an exam, scans, X-rays, a monitoring device and unlimited refinements. Don’t assume those benefits apply to the ordinary remote package.11 Confirm the records, retainers, refinement allowance and support arrangements for your selected plan.

Smileie’s refund policy describes conditional refunds with deductions before fabrication, not unrestricted returns.12

Our [Smileie review](/orthodontics/treatment/clear-aligners/smileie/) compares the plan tiers. Check the plan details before ordering a kit.

### NewSmile

##### Remote Fast Track Treatment

NewSmile advertises Fast Track treatment at $1,095. Its package lists an impression kit, treatment preview, aligners, remote monitoring and whitening.13

#### Why We Like It

- **Published package price:** Fast Track has a stated one-time treatment price.13
- **Remote monitoring included:** Monitoring is listed with the package, rather than left out of the treatment description.13

#### What to Confirm

Ask about initial retainers, refinement charges and the check-in schedule separately. The published package list doesn’t establish that every follow-on cost is included.

NewSmile’s refund policy is stage-dependent and restricts refunds after preview approval. Read the terms before approving the plan, including exclusions and deductions.14

Our [NewSmile review](/orthodontics/treatment/clear-aligners/newsmile/) covers the purchasing terms in detail.

## Are Night Aligners Effective?

Don’t shorten prescribed wear time to fit your schedule. A randomized trial of 50 adults with very mild crowding compared Invisalign worn 12 versus 22 hours daily. Lower-tooth alignment improved more with the 22-hour schedule.17

That study did not test SmileSet or an 8–10-hour nighttime product. It cannot establish that nighttime plans in this comparison are equivalent to full-time treatment.17

Ask your treating clinician which regimen is appropriate and what happens if you cannot follow it. Our [nighttime-aligner guide](/orthodontics/treatment/clear-aligners/nighttime/) explains the evidence and limitations.

## What to Expect During Your First Visit

Your initial assessment should guide the choice of treatment, rather than follow a purchase decision. The AAO advises visiting your dentist for a check-up before aligner treatment.1

Ask who reviews your records, how often progress is checked and where you’ll receive in-person care if needed. Discuss symptoms, existing dental work and concerns about your bite. Your clinician should decide which records and procedures are appropriate.

## Aligner Treatment Timeline and Monitoring

Wear time and tray changes should follow your prescription. The AAO describes typical aligner wear of at least 22 hours daily, but treatment length depends on the required movements.1

CandidPro publishes a 7–14-day remote scan schedule, while SmileSet describes two virtual consultations.3,7 Those are different arrangements, not interchangeable measures of care.

Before starting, ask who handles poor fit or symptoms between check-ins. Our [clear-aligner cost guide](/orthodontics/treatment/clear-aligners/cost/) explains why additional appointments and refinements matter to the budget.

### Do You Need Retainers After Aligners?

Plan for retention before starting treatment. CandidPro, for example, describes fitting a retainer after treatment to maintain the result.7 Your clinician should set the retainer type, wear schedule and replacement advice.

Ask whether the first set is included and what future retainers cost. A merchant subscription or warranty-purchase rule is separate from your clinical schedule. Compare our [online-retainer guide](/orthodontics/treatment/retainers/online/) after reviewing that plan with your clinician.

## How We Evaluate

We compare published care models, assessment and monitoring arrangements, advertised prices, refinement and retainer terms, and refund conditions. Conflicting or unavailable information is identified rather than assumed to be included.

Merchant information is checked against dated source pages. It doesn’t prove treatment outcomes, and this comparison does not report hands-on clinical testing.

## What to Do if You Don’t Qualify for Aligners

Your clinician should explain which treatment options fit your needs. The AAO notes that some cases need braces or a combination of approaches rather than aligners alone.1

Ask what needs to be addressed before treatment and whether an orthodontist referral would help. A lower price or a convenient delivery model shouldn’t decide your clinical plan.
